Each of the herbs in the Core Gen 2 Blend has been chosen for its traditional use as a blood cleanser in assisting the excretion pathways of the body. The main botanicals consist of Red Clover, Burdock and Queen’s-Delight, also known as Stillingia; all have traditionally been used for clearing toxic debris from the blood. These botanicals are known as alteratives. They are described by herbalist Dr. John Christopher as “promoting the elimination of impurities.” He goes on to say: “Blood impurities occur because of improper functioning of one or more organs - most frequently the secretory organs – which fail to carry out impurities of the blood. The true alterative slowly but surely cleans and purifies the bloodstream and, at the same time, steadily tones up the organ or organs which may not be able to secrete these impurities.” This formulation also includes Licorice Root and Lapacho which have been used traditionally to support adrenal function, inflammation and immune weakness. The Barberry, Cascara and Buckthorn further assist the blood purifiers by alleviating extra pressure on the excretion pathways as more toxicity is pushed in their direction. Finally, both Prickly Ash Bark and Ginger are considered herbal stimulants and are reputed to help carry blood to all parts of the body, equalizing and restoring circulation. It is important to overall health to have a strong circulatory system because it helps deliver food to the body properly and carries away waste material.
