Diabetes

Diabetes is traditionally viewed as a failure of the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin for sugar metabolism. This is one type of Diabetes. However, there is two other possible causes of Diabetes: insulin resistance and insulin insensitivity. In insulin insensitivity the body produces enough insulin, but is unable to receive it into the cells because the receptor sites become plugged up with fats and the like. In insulin resistance, allergic responses to specific foods can disrupt the body's carbohydrate metabolism, thus creating a problem. Treatment for these three different types of Diabetes are: herbs for helping to control blood sugar, moderate exercise, a change to a balanced and healthy diet, and nutritional supplements that would aid the body in dealing with stress and maintaining overall health.*
