Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease refers to any disorder of the gums or other supporting structures of the teeth. In the early stage of Periodontal Disease, plaque (sticky deposits of bacteria, mucous, and food particles) adheres to the teeth. This accumulation causes gums to become infected and swollen. As the gum swells, pockets form between the gums and teeth and become a trap for more infecting plaque. In the advanced condition of Periodontal Disease, the bone supporting the teeth begins to erode as a result of this infection. The main recommendation for treating Periodontal Disease is prevention. Eating a healthy diet, maintaining oral hygiene, detoxification and nutritional supplementation are also essential parts. If the disease is already present, antibacterial/antiviral supplementation should be taken, along with detoxification, immune enhancement, healthy diet and continued oral care.*
