Serrapeptase by Nutramedix is a strong proteolytic enzyme derived from the micro-organism Serratia E15. It was originally discovered in the intestine of the silkworm; friendly bacteria living in the gut of the silkworm produces this enzyme which is in turn used to dissolve a hole in the silkworm’s cocoon. For the past 25 years, Serrapeptase has been studied and is widely used throughout the world to treat a broad range of medical conditions including arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, cardiovascular disease- just to name a few.

There are many proteolytic enzymes currently available, but they are derived from allergenic sources like soy, pork and aspergillus; most patients will not be sensitive to Serrapeptase due to its hypo-allergenic source. Serrapeptase is also considered to be an effective, low cost thrombolytic and can also be used after meals to aid the digestion of animal sourced protein.
